BIG thank you to those of you who came out last night, shared on social, and gave virtual or long distance support for @bmaathome’s Open House and local artist feature! LOVED seeing some familiar faces and meeting new ones!

The remaining pieces are available to view in person at their space until Sept 30th and a few pieces will be posted on their website very soon. Will keep you posted.

Sometimes I get so used to seeing my own art & cre

Sometimes I get so used to seeing my own art & creating so much work that I get tunnel vision and don’t look back at the big picture. I *live* for creating and let myself get swept up in the act of making, which is totally great!, but it’s also important to appreciate the work that went into it. It can feel a bit self-congratulatory as well (yuck), but it’s important. It’s also *INCREDIBLY* important to appreciate the people who support our work and acknowledge all we put into it. Something as simple as pretty graphics (and kind words 🥹) made by my friends @bmaathome made me stop in my tracks this morning. This month has been crazy busy and I’ve been working with my head down and haven’t had time to promote this event as much as it deserved. Going back to school to finish my art degree has been amazing and completely overwhelming simultaneously. To my friends & family that are dealing with my hectic/flakey/exhausted/absent self during this time, THANK YOU for being patient with me. I often feel selfish for putting a lot of things on pause, saying no so much, being stretched so thin that I forget your birthdays and get my schedule mixed up (what day is it?), but this season will pass. I’m grateful for this opportunity of intense growth and even more grateful for y’all. Oh, and come see us at BMA Design’s inspiring studio tonight! I seriously want to touch everything in there. Breckyn’s collection of samples (wallpaper, carpets, tiles, decor and more!) feels so luxe and well-curated but it isn’t stuffy. Her warm personality flows through her space and makes you feel truly cared for because she wants you to feel that way when surrounded by her design work. You really should come experience her studio if you can. Photo dump of this semester so far. Ceramics is fun! Working on my first vase and brought the boys in over the weekend to check it out. Started a few paintings since the studio pics were taken and will snap some photos as they go. Last week I had to create a PowerPoint presentation of past & recent works along with a project proposal for the semester to present to the class. It was pretty cool to see how my work has progressed over the years and it helped me see where I want to improve going forward. Onward we go! 🚂💨 #keeponkeepingon #oldinartschool #butnotthatold
