COVID-19 Protocol: Because of the recent surge in cases and out of respect for all children taking classes in my home, I will be taking temperatures at the door each day. Please do not leave students before temps are taken. Masks will be required indoors. If your child has any symptoms of Covid or has been exposed to Covid, please keep them home. I will not penalize anyone for canceling due to taking Covid-19 precautions.
This ongoing class meets students where they are currently on their artistic journey. We go over basics of drawing, moving on as each student is ready to progress. Children learn to become more observant by taking a closer look at the basic shapes, colors, textures, and lines that make up everything we see.
We will go outdoors to collect leaves and flowers and draw the natural world from life. Drawing outdoors as often as possible is one of the most exciting ways to learn to draw! When the weather doesn’t allow for drawing and painting outdoors, we will draw still life set ups in the workshop. A variety of mediums will be used including graphite, watercolors, acrylic paint, pastels, and much more!

This class is for kids who just love to make things! We will be using traditional crafting materials (pompoms, wood sticks, glue, etc.) as well as recyclable items such as paper towel tubes, cardboard, and more. Check back monthly for each week’s craft project.
For April we will be making the following:
April 12: Picasso! We will be making sculptures inspired by Picasso’s work from recycled materials, paint, and pastels.
April 26: Yayoi Kusama! We will create beautiful polka dotted paper mache pieces and learn a bit about this incredible artist.

For tweens that are into comics, cartoons, and illustration! We will go over designing your own OC (original character), background design, comic and zine making, or illustrating things in daily life in an art journal. Take this class again and again to explore various styles or build your OC collection!
This class focuses on how to “build” characters from the imagination (as opposed to copying existing cartoons) or illustrating daily life (think, Urban Sketching style!), whichever style suits your child’s interest most. We will give our characters personality, names, and a storyline.
*Please Note: Start to finish, one character can take approximately 3-4 classes to fully develop. This timeline can vary, depending on how in-depth your child wants to take their character. I do encourage completely fleshing out one character before moving on to the next.

Students learn to become more observant by taking a closer look at the basic shapes, colors, textures, and lines that make up everything we see. Over time we will go over color theory and elements of art and will try a variety of techniques and mediums such as watercolors, acrylics, pastels, graphite, ink, and more to see which your child prefers. Finding the right medium can create breakthroughs for your young artist!
This class will involve drawing and painting nature from life outdoors as well as still life set ups in the workshop. A list of suggested materials will be sent home for your child to practice with on their own but supplies during class will be provided.

Learn the practice of keeping a daily sketchbook and see the world like an artist! Learn how to draw what you see, urban sketching style, and add color and writing to help document your experiences.
This class is focused on a relaxed drawing style in order to quickly capture things and places from your daily life. We will work with graphite, ink, color pencils, watercolors, and many other mediums!
Keeping a sketchbook helps you remember details more clearly and requires you to become very observant of the world around you. Looking back at old sketchbooks allows you to see how far you’ve taken your skills and developed as an artist.
You do not need to have any previous drawing experience to take this class.
